Partner With Us

Local History Hub is a growing, teacher-led initiative building a national network to make local history a vibrant part of school and community life.

As a start-up in its pilot phase, we’re already working with a number of national organisations and are actively expanding our network of partners across the heritage, education, and community sectors.

We’re committed to working collaboratively—with national, regional, and local organisations—to support our shared goals of accessibility, engagement, and place-based learning.

Why Partner With Local History Hub?

We don’t replace the great work already happening—we help amplify it. Through our network of teacher-led Hubs and growing outreach capacity, we offer practical ways to connect your organisation with schools, communities, and heritage champions across the UK.

By partnering with Local History Hub, your organisation can:

  • Connect with educators and schools actively looking to embed local history in their teaching

  • Expand the reach of your events, exhibitions, and programmes through collaboration with our Hubs

  • Contribute expertise, resources, or insight to co-develop meaningful, school-ready content

  • Build visibility through joint outreach, network engagement, and Local History Day involvement

We aim to be a flexible, values-driven partner—open to collaboration in a way that supports your mission as well as ours.

Our Partnerships

As Local History Hub enters its pilot phase and begins to grow, we’re focused on establishing strong, purposeful partnerships that support our mission. By working with organisations who share our values around place, heritage, and education, we’re laying the foundations for something lasting.

These early partnerships are helping us explore new ways to connect schools and communities—and will play a vital role as we expand our work across the UK.

The Black Curriculum & Local History Hub: A Growing Partnership

At Local History Hub, we’re proud to partner with The Black Curriculum, a pioneering organisation working to embed Black British history into classrooms across the UK. This partnership supports our shared mission to make history inclusive, place-based, and representative. Together, we’re helping schools and communities explore stories that reflect the richness and diversity of our shared past, ensuring every learner sees themselves in the history they study.

  • Local History Hub & A Day of Welcome

Local History Hub is proud to partner with A Day of Welcome to champion welcoming, inclusive practice in schools. By connecting teachers with community heritage, we help pupils explore identity, migration and belonging through local stories. Together we aim to make it easier for schools to access trusted, classroom-ready materials that link local histories with national conversations about welcome and sanctuary.

  • Local History Hub and English Heritage

Local History Hub is delighted to be developing a national partnership with English Heritage, who share our commitment to supporting young people’s engagement with local history, heritage, and place. English Heritage is a charity that cares for over a million objects and 400+ historic sites in every part of England, from international icons to local treasures. They offer free self-led visits, expert-led Discovery Visit workshops, and a wide range of free downloadable resources to help bring history to life for learners and create unique and memorable school trips.

Together, we’re exploring how English Heritage’s Learning and Participation Officers (LPOs) can connect with our school-based Local History Hubs across the UK, from offering tailored CPD and learning opportunities, to signposting schools towards relevant regional sites and resources.

This developing partnership reflects our shared belief in the power of local heritage to inspire curiosity, build community connections, and open up pathways into the sector. We’re excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to supporting our shared networks through joined-up offers and collaborative working.

  • Local History Hub & Historic England

Local History Hub and Historic England’s Heritage School’s Programme are excited to explore ways that we can work together to help more schools use local heritage with confidence. We’ll share relevant opportunities and stay in touch hub by hub as the partnership develops.

This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to helping schools approach complex histories with confidence and care.

We share a commitment to helping young people connect with heritage and see themselves represented in the sector. Together, we’re looking at ways to showcase careers in museums and local history, especially through initiatives like Takeover Day.

This developing collaboration aims to support schools in building stronger links with local museums and inspire the next generation.

  • Local History Hub & Kimyo

Local History Hub is proud to be working in partnership with Kimyo, a new platform designed to help children and young people discover museums, galleries and heritage sites.

Through this partnership, we’ll be signposting Kimyo across our website and key resources, highlighting its free access for low-income areas and its advert-free approach. Kimyo also offers curriculum-linked lesson plans for educators and an easy way for families to explore cultural opportunities by topic or location, with museums and galleries able to keep their listings up to date.
