BECOME A REGIONAL HERITAGE ADVISOR

Help local history thrive—one region at a time.

Local History Hub is a growing, teacher-led start-up working to connect schools, communities, and heritage organisations through local, place-based education.

As we expand beyond our pilot phase, we’re looking for Regional Heritage Advisors to help shape our growth in specific areas across the UK.

This is a voluntary, strategic role for heritage professionals, educators, or outreach specialists who want to contribute their insight and networks—flexibly and without formal time commitments.

Why This Role Matters

Our teacher-led Hubs are rooted in local knowledge but they benefit enormously from regional expertise. As a Regional Heritage Advisor, you’ll help us grow in the right places, connect with the right people, and build partnerships that reflect each region’s unique stories and strengths.

This is a chance to stay connected to meaningful sector work, support community-led education, and help shape something new, sustainable, and inclusive.

What You’ll Do

  • Support regional growth – Help shape how Local History Hub develops in your area

  • Champion local heritage – Use your voice to promote inclusive, place-based learning

  • Spot opportunities – Share knowledge of regional funding, outreach initiatives, or partnerships

  • Lend your expertise – Offer informal guidance or feedback to our team where relevant

  • Engage on your own terms – Contribute in a way that suits your availability and interests

This is a non-operational, low-commitment role. There are no required meetings, targets, or deadlines—just purposeful contribution, when and how it works for you.

  • Introduce us to schools, sites, or organisations aligned with our mission

  • Offer regional insight to support strategic development

  • Signpost relevant grants, networks, or local initiatives

  • Join occasional online discussions to share your perspective

  • Promote our work in your professional circles or on social media

  • Represent Local History Hub at local events, if and when you’d like

Your contribution will help ensure our work grows in a way that’s community-focused, regionally responsive, and grounded in local expertise.

Support For Regional Heritage Advisors

We value your time, insight, and experience. You’ll receive:

  • Regular updates on national and regional developments

  • A dedicated contact from our Network Support Team

  • Recognition on our website and communications

  • Invitations to contribute ideas where opportunities arise

  • Full flexibility—no reporting, deadlines, or fixed expectations

Whether you offer occasional support or stay more actively involved, your input will help shape the future of local history education.

If you’re an experienced heritage or education professional and want to support teacher-led, community-based learning in your region we’d love to hear from you.
