LOCAL HISTORY HUB SUNDERLAND

There isn’t currently an active Local History Hub in Sunderland, but we’d love to see one develop.

Sunderland has a rich local story, shaped by the River Wear, shipbuilding, coal mining, glassmaking and the growth and change of its communities. Its historic places, museums, archives and collections offer plenty of opportunities for schools to explore the people, places and stories that have shaped the area.

If you’re a teacher, school, museum, archive, heritage organisation or community partner interested in strengthening local history education in Sunderland, please complete our short Expression of Interest form.

We’ll keep you updated as local interest grows and let you know about opportunities to get involved and help establish a Hub in the area.
