Local History Hub Mid Hampshire brings together schools, heritage organisations and community partners to support high-quality, place-based history across the heart of the county. The hub supports communities across Winchester, Eastleigh, Basingstoke and Deane, and the surrounding rural areas, helping children and young people explore the people, places and stories that have shaped Mid Hampshire.
Through curriculum support, partnership working and local storytelling, the hub makes it easier for schools and communities to work together and ensure local history is meaningful and accessible for all learners.

We’re keen to hear from teachers, schools and heritage organisations across Mid Hampshire who would like to get involved, whether by collaborating on projects, sharing local expertise or supporting curriculum-linked local history opportunities.

The hub helps children and young people explore the people, landscapes and stories that have shaped the Forest, strengthening understanding, belonging and connection to this distinctive place.
Through curriculum support, partnership working and local storytelling, the hub makes it easier for schools and communities to work together and ensure local heritage is meaningful and accessible for all learners.

COMMUNITY LEAD
Hayley Long manages the learning and education programme at the New Forest Heritage Centre, overseeing engaging learning experiences. Drawing on a background in HR, training, and experience within a large secondary school’s examinations team, Hayley brings strong practical expertise and a passion for accessible education.
