LOCAL HISTORY HUB LEICESTER
Teacher-led tools. Big stories. Local pride.
Local History Hub Leicester brings together schools, heritage organisations, and community partners to explore and share the stories that shape the city and its people. Supported by Leicester City Council, the hub is locally led and designed to strengthen curriculum learning, build lasting partnerships, and celebrate a shared sense of place and identity.
From classroom projects to community collaborations, the hub helps schools connect with Leicester’s diverse past and bring local history to life for children and young people.
We’re now building the team that will lead this important work in Leicester. Rachel Ayrton from Leicester Museums & Galleries is taking on the role of Community Hub Lead, bringing expertise in heritage engagement and partnership building.
We are now seeking a Schools Hub Lead to work alongside Rachel — someone passionate about history education who can help coordinate school involvement and shape how local stories are taught across the city.
Whether you’re interested in this role or would like to support the hub as a partner, school, or collaborator, we’d love to hear from you.
