New Appointment: Gareth Clayton Joins as Director of Strategy

We’re delighted to welcome Gareth Clayton to the Local History Hub Strategic Board as our new Director of Strategy.

Gareth brings over a decade of experience in arts, culture, heritage, and education funding. He has managed multi-million-pound grant portfolios and supported organisations in developing their strategic direction, particularly through Theory of Change and impact-led planning.

His appointment comes at a vital time in Local History Hub’s journey, as we expand our network of school-based hubs across the UK. Gareth’s insight into long-term planning, organisational growth, and the funding landscape will play a key role in helping shape our future.

Speaking about his appointment, Gareth said:

“I'm very interested in how learning about local history can connect people more deeply to the places and communities they live in. I’m excited to support a project that is both teacher-led and rooted in real, local stories.”

We’re thrilled to have Gareth on board and look forward to the strategic direction he’ll help provide as we continue to grow Local History Hub from a grassroots idea into a national movement.
