November Round-Up: Strengthening Networks Across the North
November was a month of steady regional growth for Local History Hub, marked by the launch of new hubs across the Tees Valley and the appointment of three new advisors. Teachers and heritage partners in Darlington, Middlesbrough, Redcar, Hartlepool and Stockton began shaping five new hubs with support from Tees Valley Museums. We also welcomed Jenny Wilkie as Regional Heritage Advisor for the North East, Glenn Carter as National Education Advisor, and Alys Rouncefield and Anna Hartley as Regional Heritage Advisors for the North West and East Midlands. Together, these developments continue to strengthen our UK-wide network and support the growing movement for meaningful, place-based history in schools.
A New Local History Hub for North Tyneside
We’re thrilled to launch a new Local History Hub for North Tyneside, supported by North East Museums. Bringing together schools, heritage partners, and community organisations, the hub will help children connect with the coastal, industrial, and community stories that have shaped the borough. Led by experienced History Coordinator Lucy, this new hub strengthens our teacher-led, grassroots network across the UK.
A New Local History Hub for Warrington
Local History Hub Warrington is launching with the support of Culture Warrington, bringing together schools, heritage partners, and community organisations to explore the town’s industrial, civic, and cultural heritage. Led by heritage professional Amanda Moore, the hub will enrich curriculum learning, strengthen community identity, and help children connect with the stories that shape where they live.

New Local History Hubs for Tees Valley
We’re thrilled to announce five new Local History Hubs across Darlington, Middlesbrough, Redcar, Hartlepool and Stockton — launched in partnership with Tees Valley Museums. From shipbuilding and steel to migration and social change, the hubs will celebrate local identity and connect children with the rich history on their doorstep.
October Round-Up: Building Momentum and Expanding Connections
October has been a month of growth and connection for Local History Hub, with three new hubs launching in Lincolnshire, Leicester, and Wiltshire, a major new partnership with Historic England’s Heritage Schools Programme, and the appointment of leading history educator Michael Maddison as Non-Executive Director. Together, these developments mark a significant step forward for our teacher-led movement — building partnerships, empowering educators, and helping more communities connect with the stories that matter most.
A New Local History Hub for Nottingham
A new Local History Hub is launching in Nottingham, supported by Transform Trust, to connect schools, heritage organisations, and communities through the city’s rich industrial, cultural, and social heritage. Launching in September 2026, the hub will help children explore the people, places, and events that shaped Nottingham — and we’re now seeking passionate teachers and heritage professionals to join the team.
A New Local History Hub for Lincolnshire
We’re excited to announce that a new Local History Hub is being established in Lincolnshire, supported by Heritage Lincolnshire and Lincolnshire County Council. The hub will connect schools, heritage organisations, and community groups across the county to explore and celebrate Lincolnshire’s rich and varied history — from medieval trade and wartime resilience to stories of innovation, migration, and everyday life.
We’re now building the team that will lead this important work and are seeking volunteer Community and Schools Hub Leads to help shape the project.

A new Local History Hub is launching in Leicester, supported by Leicester City Council and developed in partnership with Leicester Museums & Galleries. The hub will bring schools, heritage partners, and community groups together to explore the city’s rich and diverse stories. We’re now seeking a Schools Hub Lead to join the leadership team and help shape this exciting new chapter.
A New Local History Hub for Wiltshire
brand-new Local History Hub is coming to Wiltshire, supported by Wiltshire Council and designed to bring schools, heritage organisations, and community groups together to explore the stories that shape the county. We’re now looking for volunteer Schools and Community Hub Leads to help build this exciting new partnership — connecting classrooms with local heritage and celebrating a shared sense of place.
September Round-Up: Growing Partnerships and Local Roots
September has been a month of fresh energy and exciting progress for Local History Hub. We’ve deepened our national presence by joining GEM, partnering with Kimyo and A Day of Welcome, and beginning a new collaboration with English Heritage. We also welcomed Saira MacNicol as a Non-Executive Director and Charlotte Barry as Regional Heritage Advisor for South Wales — two appointments that will strengthen our work at every level.
On the ground, our first hub meetings in Cardiff and Blackburn with Darwen brought schools, heritage partners, and community organisations together to set shared priorities for the year ahead. We also held our first information sessions, introducing Local History Hub to new local authorities and academy trusts.
With stronger partnerships, new expertise, and our first collaborative plans taking shape, September has been a pivotal step towards building a national movement rooted in local stories.

Local History Hub is partnering with A Day of Welcome to champion inclusive practice in schools. Together we’re helping teachers connect community heritage with national conversations about identity, migration, and belonging, making it easier to access trusted, classroom-ready materials that celebrate welcome and sanctuary.
Local History Hub and Kimyo
Local History Hub is proud to be working in partnership with Kimyo, a new platform helping children and young people explore museums, galleries and heritage sites. Together, we’re committed to making heritage more accessible for schools and families, with free, advert-free tools and curriculum-linked resources that inspire curiosity beyond the classroom.

Local History Hub is now a proud member of GEM (Group for Education in Museums), the UK’s leading network for heritage learning. This membership strengthens our commitment to inclusive, place-based education and connects us with a national community dedicated to championing learning in museums and heritage settings.

Over July and August we welcomed new Schools Leads in Liverpool and Cheshire West & Chester, and appointed our first National Heritage Advisor for England. These additions strengthen both our local hubs and national strategy as we prepare for an exciting year ahead.
