Local History Hub and the Northern Holocaust Education Group: Strengthening Holocaust Education Through Local Stories
At Local History Hub, we are proud to be partnering with the Northern Holocaust Education Group (NHEG) to provide young people with the opportunity to learn from the life stories and experiences of victims of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution.
The Northern Holocaust Education Group delivers powerful, age-appropriate talks led by accredited volunteer speakers who share their own family histories. These sessions are carefully designed to be historically accurate, impactful and accessible, using visual presentations to support understanding and engagement. Through personal testimony and lived experience, pupils are able to connect with history in a way that is both meaningful and memorable.
This partnership aligns closely with Local History Hub’s commitment to place-based, inclusive storytelling. While the Holocaust is a global history, its legacies and lessons are deeply relevant to local communities today. By working together, we aim to help schools approach Holocaust education with confidence, ensuring that young people develop empathy, critical understanding and a strong moral framework grounded in historical truth.
Together, we are committed to countering antisemitism and all forms of discrimination. We want to support schools in encouraging young audiences to stand up against hatred, prejudice and persecution of any kind.
As this partnership develops, we look forward to sharing opportunities with our growing network of teacher-led hubs and supporting schools to embed thoughtful, rigorous and values-led Holocaust education within their curriculum.
