Local History Hub West Northumberland

The West Northumberland Local History Hub brings together schools, heritage organisations and community partners to support high-quality, place-based history across the western part of the county. The hub helps children and young people explore the people, places and stories that have shaped West Northumberland, from its rural landscapes and market towns to its border history and local communities.
Through curriculum support, partnership working and local storytelling, the hub makes it easier for schools and communities to work together and ensure that local history is meaningful, accessible and valued across the area.

Sophie is a Learning and Participation Officer at English Heritage, focusing on sites along Hadrian’s Wall. She is dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for young people to connect with history, ensuring that everyone can engage with and appreciate their local heritage.

Lee is Headteacher of Kielder Primary School in Northumberland. Kielder is England's most remote primary school and is steeped in rich history. Lee is passionate about developing a knowledge-rich curriculum that gives all children a sense of their place in their community and an appreciation of the past. Lee is also a geek for Northumbrian, Roman and Tudor history and can regularly be found exploring Hadrian's Wall, the Capitoline Museums in Rome or one of Northumberland's many castles.
