Local History Hub South Staffordshire

The North Staffordshire Local History Hub is currently in development and will bring together schools, heritage organisations and community partners to support high-quality, place-based history across the area.
As part of the wider, teacher-led Local History Hub network, the hub will focus on helping children and young people explore the people, places and stories that have shaped North Staffordshire. Work is underway to build local partnerships and establish hub activity, with the aim of launching in the near future.
Get Involved
The North Staffordshire Local History Hub is currently in development, and we’re beginning to build the partnerships that will shape its future.
We’re keen to hear from schools, teachers and heritage organisations across North Staffordshire who would like to be involved in establishing the hub, whether as partner organisations, collaborators or supporters as activity develops.

The South Staffordshire Local History Hub brings together schools, heritage organisations and community partners to support high-quality, place-based history across the region. The hub helps pupils explore the people, places and events that have shaped South Staffordshire, strengthening understanding, belonging and connection to local communities.
Through curriculum support, professional collaboration and partnership working, the hub is designed to be genuinely teacher-led, inclusive and shaped by local expertise, ensuring that local history is meaningful and accessible for all learners.
Meet the Team

Ryan Holford
SCHOOLS LEAD
Ryan is a Teacher of History at The De Ferrers Academy in Burton-on-Trent and serves as the Schools Hub Lead for South Staffordshire with Local History Hub. He brings experience from a wide range of schools and educational settings, alongside governance roles that have strengthened his understanding of strategic school improvement.Ryan has taught across Key Stages, including work with alternative and specialist provision. Rooted in research-informed practice, he is currently working towards a doctorate focused on Holocaust education, exploring how teachers can approach this complex history in the classroom.
This specialism, combined with strong networks across schools, heritage partners and community organisations in the region, underpins his commitment to making local history meaningful and accessible for all learners. He has a longstanding interest in SEND and inclusive practice, ensuring that diverse needs are carefully considered in curriculum design, pedagogy and enrichment.
As Schools Hub Lead, Ryan works with colleagues to build a hub that is genuinely teacher-led, shaped by local stories and sustained through collaboration.
