Local History Hub Blackburn with Darwen Launches!
We’re excited to announce the launch of Local History Hub: Blackburn with Darwen—our newest grassroots network supporting schools to connect children with the rich history on their doorstep.
Led by Laura Butterworth of Roe Lee Park Primary School, this new hub is all about collaboration, community, and sharing stories that help young people feel a real sense of place and belonging. Laura brings huge passion and experience to the role, and we’re delighted to have her leading the way.
The Blackburn with Darwen hub has been shaped with valuable input from Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery, who are helping to map out local people, places, and stories for schools to explore. Their support and expertise have been key in getting the hub off to a strong start.
Our aim is simple: to build a grassroots network where teachers, heritage organisations, and local communities can come together to share ideas, resources, and opportunities for place-based learning. Whether you're a teacher, historian, or curious local, there will be lots of ways to get involved as the hub grows.
We’ll soon be sharing updates, stories, and opportunities from Blackburn with Darwen—so watch this space!
If you'd like to find out more, or if your school is interested in getting involved, you can email us at enquiries@localhistoryhub.org.uk — or contact Laura Butterworth directly by clicking here.
