Local History Hub Cheshire West & Chester Launches!

We’re delighted to announce the launch of Local History Hub: Cheshire West & Chester—our latest grassroots network supporting primary schools to connect pupils with the rich and diverse history all around them.

This new hub has already received an amazing response from schools and community leads, with a growing number of member schools ready to bring local stories into the classroom. It’s clear there’s a real appetite for place-based learning that reflects the heritage, identity, and voices of Cheshire’s communities.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be working closely with teachers and finalising the hub’s structure. We’ll also begin engaging with heritage partners from across the area—from local archives and museums to independent historians and community groups. Together, we’ll explore the histories of Roman Chester, the salt industries, waterways, civic change, and more.

As with all our hubs, the aim is simple: to build a network where educators, heritage organisations, and local communities can collaborate, share resources, and inspire the next generation through local history.

There’ll be plenty of updates, stories, and opportunities to get involved—so keep an eye on this space!

If you'd like to find out more, or if your school is interested in joining the hub, you can reach us at enquiries@localhistoryhub.org.uk.

We’d love to hear from you.
