Welcoming Anna Hartley: Regional Heritage Advisor for the East Midlands
We are delighted to welcome Anna Hartley as our new Regional Heritage Advisor for the East Midlands. Anna brings a rare combination of classroom expertise, heritage sector leadership, and project experience across Lincolnshire that makes her a fantastic addition to the Local History Hub team.
Anna is Learning Manager at Heritage Lincolnshire, a role she moved into in 2023 after several years as a secondary history teacher. Since joining the organisation she has transformed the way Heritage Lincolnshire approaches heritage education and has played a central role in shaping its new training philosophy and development plan.
Before moving into the heritage sector Anna taught history at Key Stage 3 and 4 and went on to become an Assistant Curriculum Leader. In that role she reviewed and improved curriculum design so that teaching more closely reflected the needs and experiences of students. Her background in school leadership gives her a deep understanding of the realities of classroom practice, curriculum planning and the pressures teachers face.
Anna’s work at Heritage Lincolnshire has already had a significant impact across the region. Over the last two years she has taken a leading role in several major projects.
As Regional Heritage Advisor for the East Midlands, Anna will:
Strengthen relationships between schools, museums, archives and community groups across the region
Support the development of new Local History Hubs as we expand our presence in the East Midlands
Champion inclusive, place-based learning through curriculum support and regional insight
Offer strategic guidance as part of our growing national advisory team
This voluntary role is designed for heritage professionals who want to contribute to education and engagement at a strategic level. We are thrilled to have Anna’s expertise, creativity and enthusiasm shaping the next chapter of Local History Hub in the East Midlands.
