October Round-Up: Building Momentum and Expanding Connections
October has been a month of growth and connection for Local History Hub, with three new hubs launching in Lincolnshire, Leicester, and Wiltshire, a major new partnership with Historic England’s Heritage Schools Programme, and the appointment of leading history educator Michael Maddison as Non-Executive Director. Together, these developments mark a significant step forward for our teacher-led movement — building partnerships, empowering educators, and helping more communities connect with the stories that matter most.
A New Local History Hub for Lincolnshire
We’re excited to announce that a new Local History Hub is being established in Lincolnshire, supported by Heritage Lincolnshire and Lincolnshire County Council. The hub will connect schools, heritage organisations, and community groups across the county to explore and celebrate Lincolnshire’s rich and varied history — from medieval trade and wartime resilience to stories of innovation, migration, and everyday life.
We’re now building the team that will lead this important work and are seeking volunteer Community and Schools Hub Leads to help shape the project.
