A New Local History Hub for Lincolnshire
We’re delighted to announce that a brand-new Local History Hub is being established in Lincolnshire, creating exciting new opportunities for schools, heritage organisations, and community groups to come together and explore the stories that shape the county.
Supported by Heritage Lincolnshire and Lincolnshire County Council, the new hub will form part of our growing UK-wide network — a teacher-led, grassroots movement connecting classrooms with the people, places, and events that make local history meaningful. Each hub is built collaboratively by schools, heritage partners, and community organisations, with the aim of enriching the curriculum, strengthening community identity, and celebrating a shared sense of place.
A County-Wide Collaboration
The Lincolnshire Hub will bring together schools, museums, archives, and local history groups from across the county — from the historic city of Lincoln and the Fenlands to the Wolds and coastal communities. Together, they’ll explore the region’s rich and varied heritage: its medieval and agricultural past, its wartime resilience, and the stories of innovation, migration, and everyday life that define Lincolnshire today.
The hub is being developed in partnership with Heritage Lincolnshire and Lincolnshire County Council, who share our commitment to connecting heritage and education at a local level.
Seeking Hub Leads
We’re now building the team that will lead this important work across Lincolnshire.
We’re looking for two voluntary leadership roles:
A Community Hub Lead — ideally a heritage or cultural professional with experience in partnership working and community engagement.
A Schools Hub Lead — a classroom teacher, subject leader, or educator passionate about local history and place-based learning.
Working alongside the Local History Hub team and local partners, these leads will help shape collaborative projects, support schools to embed local history in the curriculum, and champion the stories that make Lincolnshire unique.
These are flexible, voluntary roles (around 2–3 hours per month) and a brilliant opportunity to help build something lasting and meaningful for the county.
Get Involved
Whether you’re a teacher, part of a heritage organisation, or involved in a community project, we’d love you to be part of this new chapter for Lincolnshire.
