LOCAL HISTORY HUB FOR HISTORICAL SITES & ORGANISATIONS
Local History Hub is a growing, teacher-led initiative with national ambition. We are building a national network of school-led hubs that connect educators, heritage partners, and communities to explore and celebrate the history of place.
As a grassroots start-up in its pilot phase, we are already working in Blackburn, Cardiff, Cheshire West & Chester, Derby, and Liverpool. Alongside schools and local authorities, we are now building tailored partnerships with museums, archives, historic buildings, and community-run heritage groups.
We believe heritage organisations have a vital role to play in bringing history to life for pupils, streamlining their outreach, and ensuring collections, stories, and expertise are shared where they can have the greatest impact.
Why Work With Us?
Local History Hub offers a practical, scalable model for connecting heritage organisations with schools, built around the needs of real teachers and pupils.
By working with us, heritage organisations can:
Streamline outreach by connecting directly with teachers who are already engaged and passionate about local history
Align with the curriculum, ensuring your resources, stories, and programmes meet school needs and reach classrooms more effectively
Scale your impact. One hub connection can ripple across multiple schools, making your time and resources go further
Gain credibility and visibility by being part of a national network that highlights your educational work
Build sustained relationships with schools and teachers through regular hub working parties, not just one-off visits
Contribute to national projects like Local History Day and Our Homes, Our Stories, giving your organisation local depth and national reach
Strengthen community impact by helping young people connect with heritage on their doorstep
Our hubs are teacher-led, shaped through collaboration, and supported nationally. We do not replace your work, we amplify it, ensuring your offer reaches the right schools at the right time.
Free To Join
There is no cost for heritage organisations to join Local History Hub. We are a teacher-led, grassroots start-up committed to making heritage accessible to every school and community.
A Collaborative Approach
At the heart of Local History Hub is collaboration. Our hubs act as facilitators and catalysts, bringing teachers and heritage professionals together.
For heritage organisations, this means:
Direct access to teachers who are motivated and looking for partners
Opportunities to shape curriculum-ready activities with schools, ensuring your work lands in the classroom
Shared partnerships that reduce duplication. No need to approach schools one by one
A stronger voice through our national network, while staying rooted in your community
This approach saves time, widens impact, and helps your organisation build meaningful, long-term relationships with schools.
Upcoming Events
This autumn we are hosting a series of short online information sessions for heritage organisations, academy trusts, and local authorities.
These sessions will:
