Local History Hub and Historic England’s Heritage Schools Programme: Exploring New Ways to Support Schools

We’re delighted to announce that Local History Hub and Historic England’s Heritage Schools Programme are exploring ways to work together to help more schools use local heritage with confidence.

Both initiatives share a passion for supporting teachers to make local heritage an inspiring part of the curriculum — helping children understand their community, develop a sense of place, and take pride in where they live.

Through this new partnership, we’ll be looking at how Local History Hub’s growing network of teacher-led hubs can connect with the Heritage Schools Programme to share good practice, resources, and professional learning opportunities.

As the partnership develops, we’ll stay in touch hub by hub, sharing relevant opportunities and updates so schools across the country can benefit.

We’re really looking forward to working together and discovering how our shared goals can make local history even more accessible, engaging, and empowering for teachers and pupils alike.
