New Appointment: Michael Maddison Joins Local History Hub as Non-Executive Director

We’re delighted to announce that Michael Maddison has joined the Local History Hub Strategic Board as a Non-Executive Director.

Michael is the Director of Maddison Education Consultancy and a leading figure in history and heritage education. He serves as Chair of Trustees at the Heritage Education Trust, home of the prestigious Sandford Award, Deputy President of the Historical Association, and Project Director of Teaching Korean History Through Amazing Objects.

A former National Lead for History at Ofsted and an award-winning teacher, Michael has spent over three decades promoting excellence in history education across schools, museums, and heritage organisations in the UK and internationally. His work has consistently championed high-quality, inclusive approaches to teaching and learning, helping educators inspire young people to connect meaningfully with the past.

As a Non-Executive Director, Michael will bring a wealth of strategic insight and experience to Local History Hub, supporting our mission to connect schools with the histories of their places and communities. His deep commitment to educational excellence and heritage engagement will be invaluable as we continue to expand our network of Local History Hubs across the UK.
