A New Local History Hub for Nottingham

We’re delighted to announce that a brand-new Local History Hub is being established in Nottingham, creating exciting new opportunities for schools, heritage organisations, and community partners to come together and explore the stories that shape the city.

Supported by Transform Trust, the new hub will form part of our growing UK-wide network — a teacher-led, grassroots movement connecting classrooms with the people, places, and events that make local history meaningful. Each hub is built collaboratively by schools, heritage partners, and community organisations, with the aim of enriching the curriculum, strengthening community identity, and celebrating a shared sense of place.

A City-Wide Collaboration

The Nottingham Hub will bring together schools, museums, archives, and local history groups from across the city. Together, they’ll explore Nottingham’s rich industrial and cultural past, from its lace and textile heritage to stories of social change, activism, migration, and innovation.

The hub will work closely with Transform Trust and local heritage partners who share our commitment to connecting history, identity, and education at a local level.

Seeking Hub Leads

We’re now building the team that will lead this important work across Nottingham.

We’re looking for a Community Hub Lead — ideally a heritage or cultural professional with experience in partnership working and community engagement. Working alongside the Local History Hub team and local partners, the Community Hub Lead will help shape collaborative projects, build connections between schools and heritage organisations, and champion the stories that make Nottingham unique.

This is a flexible, voluntary role (around 2–3 hours per month) and a brilliant opportunity to help build something lasting and meaningful for the city.

Get Involved

Whether you’re a teacher, part of a heritage organisation, or involved in a community project, we’d love you to be part of this new chapter for Nottingham.
