Welcome to Our New Community Lead: Alys Rouncefield
We’re delighted to announce that Alys Rouncefield, from Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery, has been appointed as the Community Lead for Local History Hub Blackburn with Darwen.
Alys brings a deep commitment to inclusive heritage education. In her current role at the museum, she leads on community engagement and organises school visits that closely connect the museum’s collections with the national curriculum. Her approach is rooted in the belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to access their heritage, feel a sense of belonging, and see themselves reflected in the stories we tell about the past.
Alys is especially passionate about ensuring that the museum is a welcoming space for all young people across the region. Her work continues to champion the idea that local heritage should be accessible, relevant, and empowering for everyone in the community.
We’re thrilled to have Alys as part of the Local History Hub team and look forward to working with her to support schools, heritage partners, and residents in celebrating the rich history of Blackburn with Darwen.
Stay tuned for more updates as the hub grows!
