New Appointment: Alex Fairlamb Joins Local History Hub as Non-Executive Director
We’re delighted to announce that Alex Fairlamb has joined the Local History Hub Strategic Board as a Non-Executive Director.
Alex is a nationally recognised curriculum leader, author, and advocate for equity in education. She currently serves as a Trust Teaching and Learning Network Lead and senior leader with responsibility for Teaching and Learning, and she is a member of the Historical Association’s Secondary Committee. Alongside this, she is an experienced facilitator for Ambition Institute’s NPQLL programme and a committed History teacher with a deep belief in the power of education to shape inclusive narratives.
A co-author of The Scaffolding Effect and co-editor of What is History Teaching, Now?, Alex has played a central role in current conversations around curriculum design, representation, and disciplinary rigour. Her work consistently champions knowledge-rich, inclusive approaches that are grounded in real classroom experience and shaped by meaningful research.
In her role as a Non-Executive Director, Alex will provide strategic insight and challenge, supporting the continued growth and quality of Local History Hub as a teacher-led, place-based national initiative. Her expertise in history education, curriculum development, and school leadership will be invaluable as we expand our network and develop resources that empower teachers to connect pupils with the stories of their communities.
We’re thrilled to welcome Alex to the team. Her energy, integrity, and commitment to inclusive education align powerfully with the mission of Local History Hub.
