Welcoming Grace Redpath: Regional Heritage Advisor for North East England

We’re delighted to announce that Grace Redpath has joined Local History Hub as our new Regional Heritage Advisor for North East England.

Grace brings a wealth of experience and energy to this voluntary role, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on board. Based on the North Yorkshire coast, she is Learning Manager at the independent museum Land of Iron in Skiningrove, a site rich in industrial and social history. With an MA in Curating Collections and Heritage from the University of Brighton and current PhD research underway in the Archaeology Department at Durham University, Grace is a brilliant example of the academic-practitioner bridge we value so highly at Local History Hub.

Grace’s work has consistently focused on the democratisation of heritage—both tangible and intangible. From cataloguing the Teesworks Collection at Teesside Archives to curating exhibitions at Redcar Palace, she has demonstrated a deep commitment to engaging communities with the stories and objects that shape their identity.

As Regional Heritage Advisor, Grace will help guide Local History Hub’s growth in the North East by:

  • Signposting opportunities for school-heritage collaboration

  • Connecting us to potential partner organisations and community projects

  • Championing inclusive, place-based education across the region

  • Offering strategic insight as we expand our presence in the area

This is a flexible, low-commitment, and high-impact role—perfect for heritage professionals who want to stay meaningfully connected to education and public engagement without taking on additional delivery work. Like all our Advisors, Grace is part of a growing, UK-wide team helping shape a national movement rooted in local stories.

Please join us in giving Grace the warmest welcome. We’re lucky to have her insight, experience and passion supporting the North East’s heritage education journey.
