July–August Round-Up: Building Momentum

Over the summer months we’ve continued to strengthen Local History Hub, welcoming new leads and advisors who bring energy, expertise and vision to our growing movement.

In July we were delighted to welcome Ann-Marie and Jacquie as Schools Leads for Local History Hub Liverpool. Both are based at Monksdown Primary School and bring a wealth of experience in inclusive, community-rooted learning. Their leadership will be central in building partnerships across the city and ensuring Liverpool’s rich stories are brought into the classroom.

We also welcomed Jess Kelly as a new Schools Lead for Local History Hub Cheshire West & Chester. Jess is a KS2 teacher with a background in history and curriculum development, and is passionate about keeping the Hub practical, responsive and firmly rooted in teacher-led collaboration.

On the national stage, Marie Woods joined us as our first National Heritage Advisor for England. An archaeologist and heritage professional with over a decade of experience, Marie will play a vital role in shaping our strategy, championing inclusive local history education, and connecting us with new opportunities across the sector.

While much of our focus this summer has been on strengthening foundations and planning for the year ahead, these new appointments show how Local History Hub continues to grow both locally and nationally.

As we move into autumn, we look forward to sharing more about the work happening behind the scenes and the partnerships that will shape the next phase of our journey.

Thank you, as always, to our brilliant team, hub leads, advisors and partners for their commitment and enthusiasm.
